Partnering with Teach In The USA:
Your Questions Answered
Why should our school district consider international teachers?
International teachers offer a unique opportunity to enrich your school community and enhance student learning experiences. They bring global perspectives, introduce new cultural insights, and can often inspire a broader understanding of the world within the classroom. These dedicated educators contribute to a vibrant school environment, foster global awareness in students, and often demonstrate remarkable commitment and resilience.

How do you ensure the quality and qualifications of your teachers?
Our rigorous vetting process includes thorough academic and professional credential evaluation, background checks, English proficiency assessment, and multiple rounds of interviews. We ensure their qualifications align with U.S. teaching standards and state certification requirements.

What is the visa process like for our HR department?
As your J-1 visa provider, our partnership handles all of the visa-related administrative complexities. This means your HR team is completely relieved of the burden of visa paperwork, legal compliance, and direct communication with the U.S. Department of State. By managing this entire process, we create significant efficiencies and free up valuable resources within your department. This allows your HR team to focus their time and energy on other critical responsibilities crucial to your school district's success. For H-1B, we also simplify the process to create efficiencies for your team.

How long can international teachers stay in the U.S. under your program?
J-1 Teacher Exchange Visitors can teach for up to three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension, for a maximum total of five years. This provides your school district with stable, long-term staffing solutions. H-1B visas are initially for three years and can be extended up to six years.

What kind of support do teachers receive from Teach In The USA once they arrive?
We provide wide support, including pre-arrival orientation, guidance on travel and housing, and assistance with U.S. state teaching certification. Our team also offers ongoing mentorship, professional development resources, and cultural integration support to help teachers thrive in their new communities and classrooms.

What subject areas and grade levels do your teachers typically cover?
We have a diverse talent pool covering high-need areas such as Math, Science, Special Education, English Language Arts (ELA), World Languages, Elementary Education, and more. We work to match teachers with your specific vacancy needs.
What happens if a teacher doesn't work out or leaves unexpectedly?
While rare due to our thorough vetting and ongoing support, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. Should a teacher need to be released from their duties by the hiring school district, or leave unexpectedly, our partnership agreement includes clear provisions to protect your investment. In such cases, Teach In The USA would issue a refund to the partnering school district. We are committed to working closely with your school district to address any performance concerns or unforeseen situations.
What are the typical timelines for placing an international teacher?
Once a school district makes a job offer, the J-1 visa process (from document submission to visa stamping) can typically take several weeks to a few months, depending on various factors, including U.S. Embassy wait times. We work efficiently to expedite the process and aim for a timely arrival ahead of the school year. H-1B timelines are dependent on the lottery and USCIS processing times.
What's the difference between J-1 and H-1B visas, and which do you support?
The J-1 Teacher Exchange Visa is designed for cultural exchange and professional development, allowing teachers to stay for up to five years. It's often the most straightforward and cost-effective pathway for schools. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant work visa for specialty occupations, typically requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Teach In The USA primarily facilitates J-1 Teacher Exchange Visas, and we also provide comprehensive H-1B visa support for school districts interested in that pathway.
What is the financial cost to our school district?
Our J-1 Teacher Exchange program is designed to be cost-neutral for partnering school districts. For H-1B support, a different, mutually agreed-upon fee structure would apply.
